I really loved Dan Hartman back when I was in 8th grade. "I Can Dream About You" was one of my very favorite songs and for as much of a fan as I was (or at least thought I was), I didn't remember"We Are The Young" until Martha Quinn played it on SiriusXM the 80's on 8 the other night. Like, not at all. I'm pretty sure I must have loved it at one point in time in spite of that.

"We Are The Young" was actually Hartman's third and final single to make the charts and it was considered a crossover hit because it first ranked on the dance charts. Hartman's music has lived on long past his short life ended back in 1994. Apparently, the singer died of an HIV related brain tumor after years of living his life as a closeted gay man. Songs like this one and "I Can Dream About You" make me wonder what else Hartman might have given us had he lived longer.

Currently Booming: Former Co-star Jenny McCarthy Blasts Charlie Sheen After HIV Disclosure

To say that Hollywood has had a mixed reaction to Charlie Sheen's admission of being HIV+ would be an understatement. So many have crossed paths with the fallen star, leading I'm sure, to many having at least momentary concern about their own health. Some have expressed support and concern for Sheen but many others, including ex-girlfriends and former coworkers, such as Jenny McCarthy, are lashing out.

McCarthy addressed the topic on her radio show this week, saying, "Now being on ‘Two and a Half Men’ myself, I feel like in playing a love interest, you would think there would be some type of, I don’t want to say criminal issue, but I don’t even know how to feel about that. I was like, ‘Wait a second, if I have to be upfront about a herpe, how could you not be upfront about HIV?’ I look back and I’m like, ‘OK, that would have been some valuable information.’ I mean look how many people have played his love interest on the show."

Sheen has said that he was diagnosed in 2011 so there is the possibility that while working with McCarthy he really had no idea that he was HIV+ but still, she makes some pretty valid points. If cold sores legally need to be disclosed then it seems more than fair that an incurable disease would need to be as well.
